A Charity Supper, Hockey Game & A Super Bowl Party
I haven't done a weekend in review, in awhile, but this weekend was too fun not to share!
Friday night, I was at our local hockey club's annual charity supper. The event featured a special presentation with the 1997 memorial cup team, a hilarious comedian and a delicious sit-down supper. I went with my roommate, Allie, and it was nice to get dressed up for once. Even if we ended up walking in heels, through snow, to get from our parking spot to the hotel where it was being held.
I was up early Saturday to go and get my hair done. I haven't had it coloured in months and I was well overdue for a trim. My hair dresser let me know she is leaving the salon, and opening her own, which is so exciting for her! Thankfully the new location is actually closer to my work, and my house, so it'll make it easier for those pesky bang trims every three weeks ;)
I headed to Bed Bath and Beyond after my workout to look for some things for my bedroom makeover. I didn't bring the measurements I needed so I ended up leaving empty-handed. I'm heading to Calgary in a few weeks so I'll probably check out Ikea there too and price compare anyway. I came home and slept for a few hours, caught up on This Is Us, and then got ready for a hockey date. The club was playing at home and they won! It wasn't too exciting for the most part but the last few minutes saw a lot of fights and penalties being handed out. The guys were fired up! I love covering hockey and can't wait to see how far this team goes this year. They certainly have the heart. After the game it was off to a nearby pub for beers and food. It was another late night but well worth it.
Sunday, I managed to stay in bed until about 9:45. I had committed to taking the 10:30 class at Orangetheory so I quickly changed and headed to the studio. I was supposed to go to Calgary for my friend Brie's baby shower but it didn't work with my schedule. I was feeling terrible about it but even if I had of been able to make it work Mother Nature wasn't on my side. It started snowing late Saturday night and hasn't stopped. Some of the area highways are even closed. I know she had a great time though and I'm excited to see her in a few weeks.
After the gym, I joined June and her fiancé for brunch. Mimosas and eggs are always a good post-workout plan. We chatted for a bit before parting ways. I cleaned the house, did three loads of laundry and then watched the Super Bowl with London. We decided to throw our own little party complete with snacks and a sign (since he insisted we needed decorations.) He was asleep before the comeback but I don't think he really cared about the game at all. He was ALL about Lady Gaga's half time show though. We watched it three times.
Overall it was a busy but awesome weekend! I was hoping to get a few more things done but isn't that always the case?
Hi, I'm Kaella, a single mom, reporter and avid runner. I love sharing my workouts, race-recaps, and experiences in group fitness class, with you. I also talk about my four-year-old son London a lot. I'm slightly obsessed with NYC, Starbucks and 5 Cent Candies.
