This weekend flew by but I didn't get as much accomplished as I would have liked because of a unexpected hospital visit Sunday (more on that to come...)
Friday night, I met my girlfriends (Melissa, Tawnya, Tijana and Danielle) for drinks and wings. It was so awesome to catch up. I can't wait until Bachelorette starts up again, in one week, so I can see these lovely ladies every week for our viewing party/potluck. Sadly, I forgot to snap a photo.
Saturday morning, I was up early to head to Body Pump. I have really missed this class and it felt great to get to two classes this week.
After pump, I spent an hour volunteering at a local bottle drive for Fort McMurray wildfire relief.
Then, it was off to Starbucks to start studying. I was supposed to take my Fitness Instructor Specialist course, this weekend, but it was canceled last minute. Since, I really want to get it done and start teaching I've decided to take the course, on my own, and then challenge the exam.
It's a lot of work, and definitely not ideal, but I'm committed. I spent about six hours studying (half at home since I didn't want to keep buying things at Starbucks) and then changed into comfortable clothes and stayed up eating popcorn and chatting with my roomie. I always watched Drake on SNL. Love him!
Sunday morning, I headed out the door around 7:45 for a long run. I like to do 10 miles, two weeks before my half marathons, so I wanted to start early so I could spend the whole day studying. I kept the pace, nice and easy, and besides getting stuck at one light I didn't stop the entire time (not even for my IG photo hahahaha!)
I came home, made a big breakfast, and then got a call from London's dad. He had taken him to gymnastics and he'd fallen on wood and got a huge splinter lodged under one of his toe nails. He asked if I could come over and help get it out. So, I packed up my study materials and headed over. We tried everything to get it out (London was in so much pain) but were unsuccessful. That's when we decided to take him to the hospital (Lethbridge has no Sunday clinics) to get them to have a look and hopefully remove it. It took about three hours but they did it! They had to give him three needles, to freeze his foot, and then pulled it out. Poor guy was in pain but didn't cry. My eyes definitely filled with tears watching him take deep breaths and squeeze my hand while biting down on his daddy's finger.
I was very happy we went in and got it out before it got infected!
We went for supper after and then back to my place to play the Pie In The Face game. After his dad left, we walked to a nearby park to kick around the soccer ball and run. Needless to say, I got no studying done. Thankfully, I still have some time before I write my exam.
He was in bed by 7 o'clock.
My roomie and I watched tv, together, until 8:30 and then both went to bed too. I love living with someone who likes to wake up and go to bed early!
Hi, I'm Kaella, a single mom, reporter and avid runner. I love sharing my workouts, race-recaps, and experiences in group fitness class, with you. I also talk about my four-year-old son London a lot. I'm slightly obsessed with NYC, Starbucks and 5 Cent Candies.
