Training Tuesday- 6 Days until NYC Marathon Training Starts!

I saw this post in my Facebook feed yesterday and my heart skipped a beat. I can't believe Marathon training is almost here. 

I'll be honest, after my training for the NYC Half, in 2013/2014 I never really stuck to a structured training plan for any of my half marathons. I knew I could run the distance so I just ran when I wanted and made sure I had the necessary (for me) mileage lead-up.

This is different.

I've never ran a marathon before. Ihave  doubts I'll be able to run/walk/crawl 26.2 miles AND I'm afraid of the hard work it's going to take to get me there!

London has been on vacation with his dad (they're in the city but enjoying time off together with his family) so I've been on my own for awhile. I've been trying to keep busy with my job, friends and workouts so I don't go crazy missing him (although, I still am anyway.)

I'm enjoying the non-scheduled workouts right now and trying some new classes! Let's recap my workouts for the past week:

Tuesday, June 30th- 5 Miles 43:48- 8:46/mile average

Aimed for negative splits and had a slight freak-out when I saw my 4th lap but decided to go for it.
1- 9:06, 2- 8:58, 3- 8:55, 4- 8:37, 5- 8:17


Thursday, July 2nd- 3 Miles 26:45- 8:55/mile average
 
Ran this on the treadmill before supper. London wanted to run too. He also decided we need to stop and "hug" four times.


Saturday, July 4th- SPIN & 8 Mile Long run 1:11:35- 8:56/mile average

I tried spin for the first time. If was TOUGH but I loved the new challenge. The instructor was great and the group was fun and supportive!


After spin, I headed out for an 8 mile run. It was hot and I found myself running through every sprinkler I could find...twice! I was happy with my pace considering I had just left an hour spin class.


Sunday, July 5th- YOGA & PUMP

I started off the day taking my first yoga class. It was peaceful and relaxing and my body appreciated the stretch.
I ended my Sunday with a 25 minute Les Mills pump DVD. I used the 10 pound weights throughout (which they consider intermediate) and had no problems. I did pick up some 5 pound weights, yesterday, for the hand held movements though.

Monday, July 6th- 9 miles 

I had my second, and final, Parenting After Separation course (more on this to come in a later post) and needed to decompress after. It was quiet, and peaceful, and I enjoyed running in the evening for a change. I only planned on doing 5 miles but ran into a friend and ran with her for the last half. We ended up doing 9 miles and it was after 10:30 by the time I got home!


Overall, it was a great week of workouts. I'm heading to try BARRE tonight and then eating #allthedips at our weekly Bachelorette viewing party (yes, we watch a day late because I am hosting and don't have cable haha!)
