So, my next goal race is the NYC Marathon November 1st. I have three half marathons and a handful of shorter races before then but the marathon is what I'm going to be training for starting next month!! While I have a dream goal time, in my head, I want to see how my training goes before I put it out there. Plus, I really want to enjoy the Marathon and not be too focused on racing that I miss out on the experience.
As I've mentioned, I'm running the race for Team For Kids. This week, my story was featured on their blog.
I will be taking my marathon training pretty seriously. This is my first marathon so I want to feel as prepared as possible going into it. I have purchased a training plan but also plan on supplementing it with other activities to try and prevent injuries. For the first time, I'll also be using a training journal to track my runs, food, sleep, water etc.
Anyway, I will talk about the NYC Marathon training plan soon but for now lets focus on my next race. I'm a Rock N blog ambassador for the Rock N Roll Marathon Series and this weekend I will be participating in my first race (of 3) for them! London and I, as well as some of my family, are heading to Seattle for Saturday's half marathon! I'm excited but a little apprehensive. After my back problems at the Calgary Half Marathon I wasn't even sure I would be able to run Seattle. Thankfully, I have an amazing chiropractor, physiotherapist and massage therapist who worked wonders on me!
I also didn't lifting anything (including my child which he was not a fan of) and avoided all physical activity until Saturday when I was allowed to do a short, and easy, three mile run.
I was a little stiff after but no pain! I decided to push it a bit yesterday and squeezed in 4.5 miles on the treadmill while London napped. It felt amazing!
I've missed being sweaty, haha!
Seattle is not a goal race. In fact, for the first time in a long time, I have no goals. I'm just happy to be able to get back out there and do what I love!!
Who's running Seattle?
Anything I have to do (that's kid-friendly) while I'm there?
