Phoenix Marathon- AKA #ItsGoingDownAtPHX

So, I signed up for another half marathon. I'm REALLY excited about this one! Not only is it a destination race (my favourite) but it's going to be one big party!

Thanks to Pavement Runner for creating the official hashtag (#ItsGoingDownAtPHX) for what is going to be one of the biggest running events of 2015! I first heard about the Phoenix Marathon through Brian's twitter. Brian and I first started chatting when we a few people were talking about their upcoming race schedules and we found out we had a race the same day. Of course, the races were in different countries (he's a US guy) but we decided to hashtag the rest of our tweets with #racedaytwins after that.

Sidenote: "Pavement Runner" is an AMAZING runner. If you need inspiration to get up and log some miles, just follow him on Twitter or Instagram.

Anyway, I was pretty sure my 2015 race calendar was full until I saw his tweet saying Phoenix was a fun, fast course and lots of other passionate running people were planning to be there. Yes, I drank the kool-aid and, I immediately decided I was going to do whatever it took to get me to the starting line! I immediately texted Jen to convince her to sign up and she did! Her and her husband are going to make the trip!

I decided to sign up for the half marathon since I really want to make NYC my first full. I've heard good things about the Phoenix full if you're looking to BQ though!  As for the half, check out this elevation chart! Warm weather and downhill? Yes, please!

I'm planning to take London with me; and, my mom will also be joining us so she can watch him while I run. I'm excited to spend some quality time with both of them. I can't remember the last time I went on a vacation with my mom! I'm not going to lie, the last few months have been very stressful and emotionally exhausting (divorces=not fun.) I need a vacation and a racing vacation sounds even better!

I think you should all come!!

Pavement Runner is offering a 10% discount code for those wanting to register. He's also giving away a free entry on his blog HERE.

Have you ever done a destination race?
If you could pick one city to run in where would it be?

  3. Fun, I have watched this race in AZ before! I have thought about running it but do not like the timing for training since I usually take Oct-Jan off training. It will be a blast!
