My Year of Running 2014

2014 was an AMAZING year of running. I ended up running 12 races including five half marathons, two 10 k/s, 1 8k and four 5K's. I also PR'd all those distances this year.

Today, I am linking up with Miss Zippy for her annual "Year of Running" survey.

1. BEST RACE EXPERIENCE?

This is an easy one. Running the NYC Half Marathon was, no only one of the best days of my life, but my favourite race! NYC is my favourite place, in the world, and to run through the streets was an incredible experience. The feeling I got as I left Central Park and heard the crowd roar as I entered Times Square is truly indescribable. It's also my current half PR.  I WILL BE BACK SOMEDAY!

2. BEST RUN?

I'll have to go with last month's 16 mile (race & run.). I started the day by doing a half marathon, on my treadmill, and then braved extremely cold (-33 with windchill) temperatures to complete my longest distance ever! I was really proud of myself! It taught me that it's okay to step outside of your comfort zone and I can do hard things.

3. BEST NEW PIECE OF GEAR?

I LOVE my Mizuno Wave Riders 17's. They are comfortable, supportive and super light-weight! They were with me on every run, and race, this year. I am definitely a HUGE fan! I even bought two pairs, at a sale recently, so I can use them for next year's marathon training! Plus, I love the colour purple ;)

4. BEST PIECE OF RUNNING ADVICE YOU RECEIVED?

To trust your training and run your own race. Both of these were incredibly helpful as I attempted PR's.

5. IF YOU COULD SUM UP YOUR YEAR IN A COUPLE OF WORDS, WHAT WHAT THEY BE?

Exciting, Powerful. Motivating.

What's been your best race experience this year?

  1. Obviously my best race this year was the NYC marathon. I am a huge fan of Mizuno's too. I am actually about to buy another pair of the Wave Inspires since the new models are coming out and my old model is on sale. Score.
