Race Recap: Mustache Dache Virtual 5K

A few months ago, one of my Sweat Pink sisters posted a link to a 5K run to support Movember and raise money, and awareness, for Prostate Cancer research. I posted the information to my local run club FB group and right away my friend Leighann said she was in.

This is actually the second virtual race Leighann and I have done. We did a 5K "Miles For Boston" in the spring, with Nicole and Danielle, when Leighann was pregnant.

Leighann and I have run a lot of races together. We met, almost two years ago, in a stroller fitness class. She's an avid runner and super speedy! Remember that 5K I finished 2nd woman overall? She came first! She crushes all her races, no matter the distance. Plus, she has a three year old and a four month old and still finds time to "run streak!" She's such an inspiration and totally motivates me!!!

Anyway, back to the virtual race, weather conditions were not ideal for an outside run with two kids; so, we headed to the local University track after supper.

We were both dressed in the race tee and bibs (to make it official of course) and quickly calculated we needed to do 23 laps of the track for the 5K.

We didn't have a specific goal time in mind but knew we would like to finish in under 30.

The laps flew by!! I love running with people. Leighann is so easy to talk to and  her kids are adorable!

Before we knew it we were sprinting the last quarter lap to our finish line!

Official Stats:

Time: 26:51
Pace: 8:38

We brought out medals and the mustaches, included in our race kit, and posed for a few post-race photos!

Amelia also wanted to wear the mustache!

And her little brother too...

It was such a fun night! I'm glad we were able to make time to do the race together!! Leighann is doing her first marathon post-baby Saturday so feel free to send her some love on Twitter (@LeighannDawn) or in the comments and I'll pass them on as I am doing the half marathon the same day :)

What's next on your race calendar?
Have you ever done a virtual race?

  1. Congratulations on your race - those mustaches are so cute! I've never seen a track like that before, wow, I wish my university had an indoor track. It looks amazing! Do you have to pay to get in?

    1. Yeah, this is the first one that I've done that's included bibs you don't have to print off! It was great! Plus, there were actually prizes for some people too! Money well spent :)

    1. Yeah, I wouldn't do it without a group. It's just an excuse to run and get a new medal LOL! I prefer "actual" races still and tend to push myself a bit more.
