A Cold Race, Christmas shopping & New Friends

I'm sitting here, smiling, as I start to write my weekend in review post. I had an amazing weekend.

Let's rewind to Thursday when my weekend kind of started. I took the day off as I had some vacation days to use up. I had my hair done in the morning and spent the afternoon hanging out with a friend. I picked up London from daycare, a little early, and we spent the night at home hanging out as a family.

Friday was a regular work day but it flew by! One of my colleagues ended up scoring a Keurig in some Black Friday sales so we were all pretty excited (and I don't even drink coffee!!) We are officially in the Christmas spirit at my office.

Friday night I took it easy as I had a half marathon in the morning.

Saturday, I woke up and checked the weather. Forecasters had been calling for snow and extreme windchills. Sure enough, it had snowed and there was a windchill of minus 33! I decided to do the half marathon, at home, on the treadmill and then head to the race to grab my swag. I'll have my race recap up soon! (I actually decided to take part in the race after all, as they shortened it, and I ended up running my longest distance ever-- 16 miles!!)

After the race, I was freezing!!! I grabbed a hot tea and spent the next few hours attempting to warm up. I was home just as London was waking up from his nap and off we headed, to a local Christmas craft fair, so I could pick up my favourite agenda! I love my phone calendar but need to write stuff down! The agenda was actually a Christmas gift from Court! (We bought them for each other!) Thank you Court!!

I also treated us to Turtle Cupcakes and London picked out two new hockey cards.

We were home fairly early and spent the rest of the night hanging out at home. After London went to bed I had a phone date and watched a movie.

Today, we headed to Costco and I finished my Christmas shopping! I am pretty excited to be done. Now, I just need to wrap my presents and figure out how to get them all in my suitcase 😉

This afternoon, London and I hung out with some friends. London loved having a new little buddy to play hockey with and I am enjoying getting to know a new group of people. When you go through a separation you lose friends. It sucks but some people feel like they need to choose sides. I have an AWESOME group of friends (that I love and am so thankful for!!) and I'm also so lucky to have met a new group of people that are so sweet and fun and welcoming!

When we got home, Jarod had supper ready so we ate and then London and I got messy decorating a gingerbread house.

Toopy and Binoo are over so it's time to put London to bed!

I hope you had a GREAT weekend too!

  1. Glad they shortened the race. A half in that weather is kind of crazy! And yes for 16 miles!
