Upcoming Race Schedule

As I've said before, I love to run and I really love to race! Come October, my race schedule is usually empty until March--not this year!

I'm signed up to run the 10K Clause Cause November 15th. It's my current 10K PR race and I would love to try and beat it! I would also like to try and place in tbe top 3 in my age group again.

I'm also signed up for one half marathon, and contemplating another.

My friend Leighann told me about a local half at the end of November. There's only 75 spots so I had to snatch one up quickly! Every year, the run takes on a different story and theme. This year, it's essentially a superhero theme. I will definitely be recycling my Wonder Woman costume from last year (with a few "running" additions!)

The other half I still an undecided on is
The Last Chance Half Marathon in Calgary November 9th. I'll be in Calgary with friends Saturday anyway I just have to decide if I want to stay the night and run a race the next day. I'm leaning more towards no but it might be a last minute decision.

Other than that, there's a 5K fun run in early December I'll sign up for eventually. Last year, It was -43 (with windchill) so I only did a mile before calling it quits. I'm hoping to run the whole thing this year and earn my medal (and hot chocolate!)

There's also the running room Resolution Run I may do New Years Eve, depending on my plans. Jarod has London that week so I'll likely need to do something to keep from missing him too much!

As for my training for these races, I'm mostly just sticking to maintaining and not following a plan. I know I can handle the distances so I'm committed to running, various distances, a minimum of 3 days a week. I'll have a new training plan for some of my big races next year!

2015 is already shaping up to be a pretty busy, and exciting, race year.

So far, I have three half marathons with my sights set on my first full! I'll do a 2015 race calendar soon!!

So, there you have it, a look at some upcoming races. Yes, I pretty much think about running (and races) all the time ;)

Any races coming up?
Do you usually race in the fall/winter or take a step back until the spring?
Have you ever done a themed race?

  1. I love that you have so much coming up. I'm still undecided on a lot of upcoming races. I think I'll wait until after the marathon to see how I feel before committing to anything. Love that superwoman costume by the way!

  2. I have my marathon this Sunday and I am done for 2014 - I *might* do a Resolution Run but that will just be for fun! I almost always have a race in the last week of October and then call it a day afterwards. I'm not a fan of winter running :-(

I usually run Rattle me Bones which is a Halloween run - I've dressed as Batgirl and a giant banana. Actually my 5K PB is from the race I dressed like a banana!

  4. That's awesome that you have some winter races on the horizon.

This is my first year that I plan to run through winter. I am planning on running the Santa Shuffle 5k with Lindsey and want to do the Resolution Run here as well. Beyond that, I don't want to commit because who knows if I'll actually stick to running in sub zero temps, hahaha!

I do want to do the Calgary Marathon 10k in the spring though. You should add that to your 2015 schedule and we could make a weekend out of it!

  5. I'm actually feeling strong enough to incorporate some 5 & 10k races but there's nothing happening in the mountains! I guess Calgary is an option. We need to run together sometime!!
Also, I'm going to be in Leth around Christmas if you want to meet up for a run + wine? :)
