Firefighters Calendar, Princess Birthday & No Running-Weekend in Review

Another weekend has come and gone and it's hard to believe it's almost October!! London turns TWO on Wednesday and that completely blows my mind! I can't even talk about it yet.

Friday night, I was asked to judge an event for our local firefighters' charity with two other media ladies. Basically, it was to select the 12 lucky guys who would make the 2015 calendar.

We had seats right at the end of the stage which meant we were very close to the action. The guys bribed us with chocolate and flowers and I was impressed with how hard some of them worked on their routine and getting in shape (one guy said he ate nothing but "chicken and yucky broccoli" for a month which made me laugh!)

It was a really fun night and I'm happy Tawnya, Danielle and Melissa came along too. It's always awesome to have some girls time!

Saturday morning, London and I headed out to pick up birthday presents for an afternoon party and stopped for a date at Starbucks and to play with the trains at Chapters.

While he napped, I sorted some of his baby clothes. We are giving some to friends and then selling the rest. It was tough and I definitely shed some tears. I kept a few of my favourite outfits that I couldn't part with.

In the afternoon, we headed to Abby and Gracelyn's (4th and 2nd) birthday party! It was "A Royal Affair" and most of the girls wore princess dresses. London wore his frog prince sweater.

We all had so much fun and I was pumped that their mom, Katie, hired a local food truck to come feed everyone!

Jarod, London and I had a blast visiting with friends, chasing each other around the party area and stuffing our faces with food and cake!

He loved hitting the piƱata but didn't quite understand what to do when it eventually broke open, haha!

Saturday night was low-key and I was asleep by 10! I actually managed to get my first 8-hour sleep in months! I think the cold medicine I took before bed helped.

I'm officially sick. I lost my voice Friday and it's been slowly going downhill since. I usually don't mind running when I'm sick (when symptoms are above the neck) but I have a bad cough so I'm taking time off. This is the first time I haven't logged any miles for a week since my injury in March. I'm okay with it though and know I will be back running again soon!

Today, London and I had the morning to ourselves so we went grocery shopping and ran some errands.

Jarod took him to a hockey game this afternoon so I curled up on the couch and powered through my PVR recordings and relaxed.

I'm hoping this week flies by as I have lots of exciting things coming up starting Friday.... Including, a visit from one of my friends from back in Vancouver!! I'm taking the day off to go to Calgary and pick her up from the airport so I only have a four-day work week! YAY!

I hope you had a great weekend!

  1. Sounds like you had a great weekend! I can't believe London is 2 on Wednesday. That means Liam's birthday is two weeks away :'(

That's AWESOME that Katie hired a food truck. I would love to do that with our grilled cheese truck but will wait until Liam is older for something like that.

  5. What a tough job you had judging the hot fire fighters!! ;) That's crazy that Katie rented a food truck for the party. Does she have a personal connection to them or maybe it's not as expensive as what I have in my head. Fun weekend for you!
