Half Marathon Training Update Week 9

9 weeks down and 4 weeks until my next race.

10 days ago I ran into a bit of a hiccup. I felt some knee pain during an easy 4 miler and immediately stopped running. I got two new pairs of shoes and committed to at least a week off.

Week 8 was a bit of a write off with just 4 miles but things got better this week, even though I didn't start running again until Thursday.

Planned: 23 miles
Actual: 21 miles

Thursday: 3.12 miles

Friday: 5 miles

Sunday: 12 miles

I have a crazy busy work week, and company staying with us this week, so my planned runs are not all going to happen. I'm also driving 6 hours to a wedding this weekend. I'm hoping to fit in 18-20 miles total. Luckily, I got a long run in today and am confident with the distance.

I'm still deciding if I want to do the Canmore half September 7th. I can't decided if it's smart, or silly, to do back-to-back halfs. I could do the 10K too... I'll see!

How's your training going?
Is your plan flexible for busy weeks/travel etc?

  2. I've done back to back halfs before and it wasn't too bad. Mostly though I'm just trying to convince you to run it so I can see you again!

  3. I've never been to the West Coast :-( one day though!

Totally jealous you got to go to Trader Joes - my husband is in California and was able to get a few things for me, but I haven't stepped foot in a TJ's in two years :-(

    1. Probably a good thing, hahaha! That store is bad for the wallet ;)

You need to go to the coast! It's gorgeous and there's nothing like the smell of ocean air :)
