Dear London. 22 Months

Dear London,
Today, you are 22 months old. Two months away from turning two. I started this blog as a way for both of us to remember our time together, and document your milestones, so today I'll take a step back from running-related posts and write about you. You are growing more and more into a toddler every day and continue to fill my heart with love and happiness.

The biggest change this month is you started daycare. It was a rough transition for both of us. You have yet to have back-to-back days of not crying at drop off, or pick up, but I can feel that we're heading in the right direction. Today, as I asked for my hug and kiss you said "goodbye mama" and ran into the room to play with your friends. I was so proud of you.

You learned a lot of new words, songs and mannerisms this month too. You used to just shake your head when you didn't want something, now you say (sometimes quite loud) NO! You have also been hitting daddy and I lately. I've heard from my friends it's a stage so I'm looking forward to it passing. We have been sending you up to your room for a mini time-out each time and you always come out with red-eyes and a big hug and a kiss for whomever you hit. It isn't all bad though. I love picking you up from daycare and talking about your day. Last week, I asked if you sang songs and you busted into "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" complete with hand motions. We didn't teach you that so it made my heart happy. Your other favourite songs are "If You're Happy And You Know It,"  "Old McDonald" and "Twinkle Twinkle." You can sing along to all of them which still blows my mind! You're counting to three on your own now. You will organize food on your tray and count or count the puppies that live in the house across the street when you see them on the deck "Two Woofs!" It's so cute! You also say your name which always makes me melt.

The ladies at daycare love you and you have made so many new friends. It helps that your best buddy Roman is there. You play like best friends and fight like brothers. I know you guys are going to grow up close and that makes me happy because him mom is one of my best friends. Last night, we had an impromptu get-together and it was so nice to sit and chat while you boys just played together.
You continue to be a great eater. I think you eat better at daycare than you do at home and are willing to try almost anything there. You still love your pancakes and fruit and yogurt for breakfast and chicken and rice with corn on the cob for supper. You beg for "peach sauce" for dessert after supper.

Your sleeping has gotten so much better since daycare. You still go to bed late (9:30ish) but usually don't wake up crying for mama anymore. You've also been sleeping in until 7 o'clock this week. I think it's a growth spurt. You're now 3 feet tall (you still tower over your friends) and 32 pounds. You are in size 2-3 clothes (depending on the brand) size 5 diapers and still size 7.5-8 shoes.

You LOVE to be outside. You're a water baby like me! I can't wait to take you to the beach and the ocean next weekend. Nana and Grandpa bought us a little bought and we're going to spend our days building sand castles, floating and running through the sand. Mama was silly and didn't bring your swim suit to a birthday party last weekend but that didn't stop you from sliding into the pool fully-clothed! You also love trips to the park (which we try and do nightly,) books, stickers, trucks and buses. If we're out in the car you ask mama to drive around until we see at least one bus. I'm thinking a ride on a public bus has to happen soon!

It's time to start planning your second birthday party. I think we're going to have it at a local play centre with lots of toys and bouncy castles. We've asked you what theme you want and you told us Bubble Guppies and Bus. So, we'll see what we can do.
Thank you sweet boy for making me your mama. I love spending time with you and watching you learn, explore and grow. Spending time with you is always the best part of my day.
I love you to the moon and back.
Love Mama
xxx
