Summer To-Do List

It's hard to believe but it's almost the end of July! That means we're only guaranteed two more months of nice weather before the snow can make an appearance (technically we've had snow every month of the year in Southern Alberta!!) We've been able to do lots of fun things already but there are a few things I still want to experience (and a few I want to do again) before the end of September.

My weekends are already filling up fast. Here's what I have planned so far.

JULY 26/27: Birthday party/Work commitment
AUGUST 2/3 Calgary Trip
AUGUST 8-16 White Rock/Vancouver Trip
AUGUST 23- Wedding in Edmonton
SEPTEMBER 13- Blogger Friends Weekend/Half Marathon

TO DO LIST:

1. THE ZOO

London and I went to the Zoo in June with some friends but I want to go back again. BeckyLeigh and I are planning to go the August long weekend and make a day of it! Any other Calgary-and-area bloggers want to join? Alison... Nicole... Lindsey I'm looking at you! ;)

2. CANMORE/BANFF

Besides the fact that Jo lives there, and I keep telling her I'm coming to visit, I do need some time near the mountains. It's good for the soul. I'm hoping we can make a weekend in August or early September work! I'm eyeing up the Canmore Half Marathon (the 10K) September 7th. I know Jen is doing it and it would be fun to meet her up with again as well.

3. PARK LAKE

There's a lake about 15 minutes away from Lethbridge with a small little sandy beach and a concession stand, picnic area and playground. We took London last year but I'd like to go back now that he's a little older. I think he would have a lot of fun because he's definitely a water baby like his mama!

4. PETTING ZOO

There's also a petting zoo and corn maze nearby. We took London dozens of times when I was on maternity leave. He was afraid of most of the animals but loved exploring the farm and picking up pumpkins. There's also a little kiddie "cow" ride that I think he would enjoy and a giant slide. (Sidenote: I took him on the slide last year and didn't realize how fast it was! I flew off of it and we both got tossed in to the air! Ha Ha!)

It's FAST!!

5. STRAWBERRY PICKING

Broxburn is one of my favourite places and I try to get out to the farm/cafe at least once a month. It's only about a five minute drive from Lethbridge. Their food is amazing but I want to try something I haven't done in years--pick strawberries! I'm pretty sure London would have a blast and we both love fruit! Hopefully you're allowed to sneak a few while you pick ;) They also have a giant slide that London loves!

Learning to walk last year!
He somehow convinced my mom to take him!

What's on your summer to-do list?

  1. Looks like a great summer you have planned and you should definitely think about Canmore for the half marathon! Run, volunteer or cheer! I would love to see you again. I think I'll be away for the long weekend or else I'd totally join your zoo adventure.

    1. I have a funny story about Drumheller!! I got stuck there for TWO looonnng nights (with an ex boyfriend) during a major blizzard and missed our college graduation! The lady at the hotel felt so bad for us (because I was crying my eyes out) she upgraded us to a suite!! HAHAHA!!

  5. Sounds like a fun list! I'm really excited for our zoo day and for coming to visit. So many fun things I want to do while I'm there but will be hard with limited time.

I have lots on my to-do list this summer, but I might save this for my own post, haha.

    1. I'm not sure if I should do back-to-back half marathon weekends but maybe the 10K! Jarod's away so I just have to see if my dad can watch my child while I run :)
