Running On Vacation

I've been sort of MIA this week. I have about 30 unread blogs in my blog lovin' feed and about a dozen or so comments to respond to. Work has been crazy and I'm trying to get organized for our vacation. We leave tomorrow and I can't wait (don't rob me, we have someone looking after our house, haha!)

We had a shoot at work today and they always hire a makeup lady to make me look pretty. It was a great way to end the work week!

I haven't ran since the Red Dress Run on Canada Day (Tuesday) but am hoping to squeeze in a few miles tonight in between packing and laundry. We also have my Mother-In-Law staying with us for a few days so I feel the constant need to be entertaining her.

We are heading to a lake for our holiday like we do every July. We spend the majority of our days on the boat (swimming or tubing) or on the deck playing card games. I get to read a lot of books and I get to go for a lot of runs (yay for in-laws and free babysitting!) Last year was so much fun. London wasn't walking yet but LOVED the boat!

I also get to see my best friend Courtney and her little boy Brooks. Our boys are about two months apart and always seem to have fun when they're together (which isn't often enough!) Here's them last July. They're both walking running around and talking now. It should be a blast!

Running on vacation is awesome. I love that I don't have to plan my runs around work. I just throw on my gear and run whenever and wherever I feel like it. It is July though so I'll likely be running in the early morning or early evening. I've already thrown two bottles of mosquito spray in my bag (those little buggers are crazy this year!!) I have 9 miles on the schedule this weekend and then 19 total next week. (I'm currently on week 3 of my Half Marathon Training Plan.)

We're hitting the highway early tomorrow so I'll talk to you from the lake....

What are your long weekend plans?
Do you like running on vacation or do you usually find another way to stay active?

  2. Have a great holiday!

I always have good intentions of being active on holidays but then end up just relaxing or being too busy.

    1. I'm the same way when I'm in Vancouver with my family and friends but my in-laws is a different story. Working out is a nice break :)

  4. You've probably been on your trip by now, lol, but I hope it was a good one! I actually don't enjoy vacation running for some weird reason. I am not sure why. Possibly it's from all of the vacation eating I do! LOL
