Canada Day & July Goals

Happy Canada Day!

I'm so proud to live in this country. As a military sister (my brother has served in the Canadian Navy for almost 15 years) I have never taken our freedom for granted. I love that we have access to free health care, a year maternity leave and a (relatively) safe, clean place to call home.

I usually work stat holidays but was very lucky to have today off work.

London and I woke up early (5:30) and stayed in bed cuddling and reading books until about 6:45. We packed up and headed to the lake around 10. One of the local foodbanks was having their annual red dress 5K fundraiser. I was feeling speedy and managed to get it done in 26:45 (neither of us own red dresses so we improvised!)

After the run, London and I walked over to the other side of the lake for the Canada Day activities. They had lots of activities and entertainment but, unfortunately, most of it didn't start until noon. We had an early lunch after meeting up with Tawnya and her family. We spent some time exploring the grounds before taking off for naptime.

(And because Tawnya did it and they're so cute... Here's S and London on Canada Day last year...)

Awwwwww!

London was late going down for his nap so I had to wake him up for our 3 o'clock date at the spray park. He was grumpy and didn't have a lot of fun. We ended up leaving pretty quick and setting up the pool and sprinkler up in the backyard (which he played in for two hours!)

We had BBQ chicken kabobs and corn on the cob for supper-- my favourite summer meal!

It was a great day! I LOVE extra days off with London!

July Goals:

1. Run 70 miles
2. Minimum 1 day of strength training a week
3. Limit snacking after London's bedtime
4. Read 2 books

How did you cebrate Canada Day?

    1. I got the new Emily Giffin (Griffin?) one and so far it's great for chick lit!

My Nike App defaulted to miles when I first started and I never changed it. Now I'm used to it :)

  2. Looks like you had a great Canada Day. I need to make a goal to read more books too. I get so wrapped up in everything else that I end up not reading, even though I love it.

  3. I spent Canada day at the pool, having a nap and going to a BBQ - it was a fun relaxing day. I could go downtown for Canada Day but it is just too insane!
