5 Things This Canadian Loves About America

Happy 4th of July to my American Friends and Readers!!!

I love being Canadian but there's also a few things I REALLY love about the USA!
Today's "Things I'm Loving Frday" post is dedicated to our neighbours down South.

1. NYC

If you've been reading my blog for awhile you probably know that NYC is my favourite city in the world! I've been there four times and, in a different life, would live there now! I even had a NYC themed wedding and, in March, ran the NYC Half (my dream race!!) The city makes me feel so happy and alive! There's truly no other place like it. I can't wait to go back!! If only hotels weren't so darn expensive!!

2. TARGET

I was so excited to hear that Target was coming to Canada but, sadly, it just isn't the same. American Targets (does anyone else call it Tar-jay? My friend Melissa does and it always makes me giggle for some reason?!) have better/cuter clothes, more food options and awesome home decor! There are a lot of websites that break down the huge differences!

3. TRADER JOES

I discovered this store before I read about it on so many blogs. My parents live about 10 minutes from the border and my mom actually introduced me to it. I can't wait to make a trip next month!

4. STITCH FIX

Something I was introduced to via my favourite American blogger friends is Stitch Fix. I live in a fairly small city and shopping options are limited. I LOVE the idea of signing up for an online shopping service.  I have been looking for a purse I saw on someone's stitch for weeks! I did just find out they ship to PO Boxes so I may have to think about getting a box at the border since it's only an hour away....

We are currently driving to the lake. It's a 7 hour car ride with a toddler who, so far, refuses to nap. Wish me luck!! This is what my car looked like this morning!

Thankfully I got in two great sweat sessions last night and this morning. I love to exercise before sitting in a car for a long time! Oh, and yes, I did wash my outfit between workouts LOL! All my "good" stuff was already packed!!

1. What do you love about the USA?
2. Favourite thing at Trader Joes?

  1. Gahh I would die to have a Trader Joes close to us AND a Target! I thought about signing up for Stitch fix at the border but I worry about how to return, etc?

    1. It seems fairly easy except we need to do it within three days if delivery which may be tough for me! I'm going to look into it!

  2. If you get a PO box in the States for StitchFix, I'll go in on it with you! It's such an awesome idea and I hate that I can't become a member!

    1. Awesome, I have another friend interested as well. I want to look more into it because I'm not sure I can pick it up within three days of delivery...

  3. We have a Trader Joe's and a Target in town but way on the other side that has awful traffic and a zillion college students, so it might as well be in Canada! I only go like 2x a year but that's probably a good thing for my budget!

  4. Definitely their Target stores and Trader Joes. I cannot choose one favourite thing from TJs! lol. Love their salads, coconut ice cream and Cowboy Bark.
    Have a great holiday!

  8. I would kill for a Trade Joes here and Whole Foods! And stitch fix!
There are a lot of things that I wish we had in Canada.
Have a great weekend at the lake.

  10. Omg, I LOVE Trader Joe's. I always say it's the one store that could convince me to move to the states lol. We lived in Chilliwack for 4 years and often made the trip across the border just to go to TJs. Not only do they have an amazing selection of natural and organic foods, but their prices!! So cheap.

I agree, Target isn't the same, but I don't find the Target's in the states very cheap either. They definitely don't have deals and sales like Kohl's does! I also think American Walmarts are better…

Stitch Fix shipping to Canada would be awesome. But I'm sure shipping and duty would make it unreasonable for most :(

  11. Glad I just saw your comment through Presley's blog because as a fellow Canadian I agree with these points (although I haven't been to NYC…yet!!). I'd also include just shipping to Canada in general. We get the Honest Company monthly Essentials bundle, and the 25% add-on border tax they have to put, just sucks (to put it nicely)!! Plus, I find "free shipping" qualifies for way less down there!!

That really is a super cute purse. And, our car totally looks like yours above…for an overnight stay somewhere haha
