13 Running Questions

I saw this on one of my favourite NYC blogger's today.  I'm copying you Kim! :)

I have always loved surveys and this one lets me share a little bit more about myself and my love of running! So, here you go....

1. BEST RUN EVER

It's a toss up between my first post-baby 5K after completing the C25K program. I was so proud of myself! (It's really cool to see now how far I've come with my speed.) And, my longest run ever with the running stroller... 


 

2. THREE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE MY RUNNING

Peaceful, powerful and purposeful 


3. MY GO-TO RUNNING OUTFIT

Black Lululemon crops and either a lulu tank or a Oiselle tank. Plus, my Mizuno Wave Riders.





4. QUIRKY HABIT WHILE RUNNING

I always hold the cord for my ear phones in my left hand. I also like to "run-dance" if a good song comes on my playlist.

5. MORNING, MIDDAY OR EVENING

Morning. 9am would be the perfect time for me. I like to be able to eat something, and let it digest, before I run. On weekdays that doesn't happen because I have to leave the house at 8. Monday-Friday I get up between 5-5:30 to run (depending on the planned distance.)

6. I WON'T RUN OUTSIDE WHEN IT IS

Icy, dark or in a secluded area. Safety comes first for me. I wish I had a running buddy for early  morning runs because I won't run alone since my neighbourhood isn't busy in the mornings. I stick to the treadmill for the times I'm not running with a buddy or in a busy area.

7. WORST INJURY- AND HOW I GOT OVER IT

Numb legs caused by ruptured nerves in my feet. I had to take five weeks off running and end my 397 day run streak. Read more here and here and here.

8. MY PERSONAL BEST HALF MARATHON:

The NYC HALF MARATHON. 1:54:14. Check out my race recap for the full story. I seriously still tear up reading it!



9. NEXT RACE IS

The LRPS Half Marathon September 13th. It's the first half I ever did and I'm excited to run it again! I'm also considering either the Red Deer Spartan or The Canmore Half September 7th but haven't signed up yet.

10. RUNNING GOAL FOR 2014

Run smart. Listen to my body. Don't get injured. 800 miles :) 

11. WHAT GPS WATCH DO I USE

Garmin Forerunner 305. It's big and bulky (and the strap is broken) but it does the job! I usually only use it for long runs and races. I'm currently lusting over THIS updated model though! 



12. HOW DO I STAY MOTIVATED IN THE SUMMER

Summer running is my favourite! It's warm, light out earlier/later and I can explore new places when we're on vacation! Winter running is when I have to dig deep (my bed is usually so warm and comfortable!!)

13. FAVOURITE POST RUN TREAT

Apples and peanut butter or chocolate milk (Silk or Almond since I can't drink cow's milk)

    Okay, best run? Disney half for sure, hands down the best running experience to date.
    I won't run...in the dark or wooded areas, safety is my top concern too.
