It kicked off Friday with a surprise belated birthday party for my mom. I left London with Jarod and headed to a pub downtown.
Mom thought the two of us were going out for appies and drinks but some of my girlfriends showed up to surprise her! I'm so thankful to my friends for welcoming my mom and making her feel so loved the last year! She left all her friends behind to come here for 12 months and I know she appreciates the love.
They spoiled her with gifts! Liquor, lotto tickets, a plant, flowers, tim Hortons gift card and more! She's leaving soon (can't talk about it) so I'm trying to just treasure our time together. Isn't she beautiful!?
Saturday morning Jarod headed out to golf and I ran around trying to pack for Calgary (so not like me to leave things until the last minute!) London was VERY excited to go to the zoo!
He slept for an hour of the two hour drive. Our first stop was at the race expo. I picked up my bib and tshirt, entered a few draws and picked up a new shirt! It's Oiselle (love their stuff) and I was happy to not have to pay shipping for once!
I stood in line for a few minutes to get my bib signed and a photo with Calgary Marathon special guest and ultra-marathoner Dean Karnazes. He ran 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days!! He was so sweet and had some encouraging words for race day!
(Why I wore white pants for a day with my toddler I have no idea! They were dirty within 5 minutes!!)
After the expo I met up Becky, Lindsey and Tawnya. I was so happy to finally meet Lindsey and her sweet baby girl Avery! If my son didn't have a cold I would have stolen some baby cuddles! Next time ;)
London had a blast at the zoo! He loved the penguins and still says "splash" (complete with hand motions) whenever we mention them! He had loads of fun playing with Scarlett too!
After the zoo we headed to my Dad and Stepmom's place for carb loading and a visit. We were also staying the night there. We had a huge pasta supper then hung out outside for awhile. London is afraid of puppies (up close) but was slowly getting more comfortable with their Bernase Mountain Dog as the night went on..
The Mosquitos were getting bad around 7 so we headed inside. But, not before, we had a photoshoot in the hammock. Err...well, we tried to.
The kids went to bed between 7:30-9 and I wasn't far behind!
Sunday was the Calgary half marathon. You can read my race recap HERE
So yeah, it was an awesome weekend with some of my favourite people!
HUGE thank you to Tawnya for always having your camera on you and letting me steal some of your photos!
Hope you had a great weekend!
