London's First Race

A few weeks ago, I signed London up for his first race. It was a 1.1KM and I was going to do the 5K after. Well, because of the flooding, it was cancelled. One of my run club friends had a genius idea to hold our own kiddie race and thus the "fit kid fun run" was born!

I still wanted to get a workout in so I ran 5 miles, with the stroller, to where it was being held.

There was about a dozen kids ready to run. Tawnya had created the cutest bibs and Leighann had made adorable medals with the name and date of the race.

London didn't really know what was going on for the first few seconds but quickly figured it out.

I ran the majority of the race behind him as he giggled and shouted "run mama!"

When he got tired he would hold my hand. As we reached the turn around he wanted to stop, so I scooped him up for a second until he said "down please" and we were off running again!

When he saw, and heard, everyone at the finish line he got the biggest smile on his face.

He got his medal, checked it out, and then turned to cheer on the other kids.

And what would a race be without some post-race snacks?! Thanks Alycia and Linnden for the juice, apples and crackers!

It was such a fun experience! I will never forgot the look on his face when he realized he was running with mama and when he saw everyone cheering him on! He didn't want to take his medal off and kept showing it off to everyone!

Thanks to everyone who helped organize such a fun event! I can't wait to make this an annual event!
