Half Marathon #4 Training Plan

My next half marathon is 81 days away and I'm now on week 2 of my training plan.

The plan doesn't include any other exercise. I plan to incorporate some strength training (weights, T25 or Jillian Michaels) 2-3 days a week.

Also, this is just a rough plan. I LOVE summer and spend a lot of time outside, with my family, so my runs will be planned around family activities and vacations. I will always choose a trip to the ocean over a run ;) Don't get me wrong,  I love to run on vacation but, I may skip a few or have to change the days/lengths to accommodate certain things.  These plans just help keep me accountable and on track.

When/Where is your next race? Are you following a training plan?

  1. Do you find the training plan helps much with shorter distances, like 10k?? I've never followed one before but I have no problem getting out for 10k like I don't have to build up for it). Do you notice the training plans all with your times??

    1. Oh my gosh, YES! My first training plan (for the NYC Half) through NYRR helped me shave 15 minutes off my half time. Honestly they are amazing!!

  4. This looks great! I'm new to the training plan idea so I'm reading up on what all the different types of runs are. What kind of pace do you do for your tempo runs -- do you do intervals for these runs? Thanks!

    1. I do (F) 30 seconds to 30 minutes
      (T) is usually 1-2 miles warm up then 2-3 miles T then a cool down mile or two (depending on the distance) I aim for 8:30-8:40

Let me know if you have any other questions! :)

      GOOD LUCK!!!!

    2. Your pace for Tempo should be around your 10 K pace... so about a minute faster than your long run pace
