397 Days of Running

After 397 days, my run streak is finally over. 

To be honest, I've been thinking about stopping since the whole issue with my legs. I just wasn't enjoying it anymore and I needed a break. Then, this morning I woke up sick. I was nauseous, dizzy, exhausted and my legs were so sore (perhaps from last nights first Chiro session?) so it sealed the deal.

I started streaking March 1st, 2013 when I saw a friend had joined a "run everyday in March" challenge event on Facebook. I had been running on and off since the precious December but needed to challenge myself. The idea was to run at least one mile each day.

After the month was up I felt good enough to keep going. Could I do two months? YES! That turned into six months and finally I made a goal of one year.

I've run through some tough situations including chest colds, the stomach flu and hospital visits with London. I've got up at 3am to run and I've pounded it out at 10pm to get it done. I've run in work clothes, jeans and pajama pants. 

The run streak was what I needed most days. It forced me to push aside excuses and get it done. 

I'm sad it's over but so proud of how far I've come!

In the past 13 months and 2 days I've ran 955.5 miles.

I'll streak again some day but now it's time to take some time off and relax.


  1. I already said this...but wholly amazing! I know I.could never be that dedicated. But it's great you are giving your body a break. Enjoy every second of it :-)

  2. Congrats on making that many days in a row and congrats on deciding to stop! I'm sure that ending a streak like that was a difficult decision. Hope your legs start to feel better soon!!!
