Things I'm Loving Friday III

1. THIS ruler from Bitsy Jane, a local Lethbridge dealer. TAWNYA surprised me with it when we moved into our new home last August and I LOVE it! (If anyone is interested in them, Bitsy Jane, sells them through her FACEBOOK page and they're 50 dollars. My plan is to measure London every six months. I love that it's stylish (aka not too kid-ish) and is portable in case we ever do move (although I'm hopeful this is our "forever home!" Can we just take a minute and talk about how TALL London is getting? Holy 6 month growth spurt!!

2. THIS EVENT, started by "Life in The Day of a Runner" on Facebook, encouraging runners to rock a tutu during their next run or race. If you haven't heard the story yet, SELF magazine featured a photo of Monika Allen, a brain cancer survivor, running a marathon. Unfortunately, the magazine mocked her tutu and how some people believe they make you run faster. Allen was going through chemotherapy during the race and wanted to wear the frilly skirt and Wonder Woman costume to motivate herself and others. SELF has since apologized. The event is meant to take the focus away from the magazine and instead focus on the work that Allen is doing for GIRLS ON THE RUN and what it means to be a runner. I'm proud of how the running community, from around the world, is coming together. YES, I'm also proud to say I've rocked a tutu! (Heck, I even PR'd wearing it, so maybe they do make you run faster!!)

3. MY FRIENDS: I kind of mentioned it earlier this week, but I've been having some "health issues" since flying back from NYC that have prevented me from getting out and training for the Calgary half.  After one of my trips to the hospital TAWNYA dropped off flowers, a magazine, candy (twizzlers, one of my favourites) and a book for London. So sweet!! KATIE came by a few days later and gave me a sweet card, Skittles (my friends know how much I love candy) and a Starbucks gift card! And, COURTNEY has been on the receiving end of some "pity party" emails lately. She always does the BEST job of cheering me up and has promised to come sulk with me if I can't get back to regular running soon (as long as there is booze apparently!) I LOVE my girls!

(Yes, we did go to DASH in NYC and I bought Jarod some socks from Rob Kardashian's sock line "Arthur George." He has to dress up for work everyday and always needs new socks. We didn't realize until he opened them that they said "TO DIE FOR" on the soles!! HAHAHAHA!!!)

4. THIS SHELF from IKEA. I'm in the middle of setting up a home gym/treadmill area in our newly finished basement. So far, I just have my treadmill, weights, a foam roller and a medicine ball. My plan is to put my bibs on the wall, with my newly purchased medal hanger and some framed race photos. I think this storage shelf would be a perfect addition (although, to be honest, I'm not sure what I would use it for yet.)

 5. GOOGLE IMAGE. I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow and I love that I can just type in what style I'm looking for and get some inspiration. I may have texted Courtney about 8 different options today for feedback. I need a big hair change! I need to stay brown, so I'm thinking maybe shorter or bangs. Anyone else LOVE their hair the week they have an appointment booked? I always do! We'll see what I decide to do tomorrow...  I've also used Google Image to find some pretty great ideas for my home gym area! Yes, I realize Pinterest is pretty much the same thing but I always get side tracked on Pinterest and end up looking at clothes and food.

Bangs or No Bangs?

Have a great weekend!

  1. I read about that self magazine tutu shaming today! Crazy, I can't believe it... I am definitely never buying a self magazine again, shame on them! I hope you can get back to running again and train hard for the Calgary half like I know you want to :) If you ever need someone to sulk with you're in good company ;) ha ha

PS go with bangs! It's a huge change (like you want) and if you don't like them they grow out quickly and you can just pin them back! ;) Good luck! I Can't wait to see what you do!
