Liebster Award

The lovely Leana at Runner Leana nominated me for a Liebster Award!

And what does the Liebster Award entail exactly?  It is an award to help promote new bloggers. The rules are simple:

  • Mention the person who nominated you with a link in their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions provided by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers
  • Create a new set of 11 questions for your nominees to answer.

I'm definitely a new blogger. I started this site less than a year ago and have actually struggled with whether to make it public. For now, it's open to whomever comes across it, but I don't advertise the fact I write...

Here are my 11 questions!

  1. Tell me about your first race.
My first race was the Moonlight Run in March 2012. I was 10 weeks pregnant and hadn't told very many people. While I had somewhat trained for the race I didn't know if I should be going "full out" and decided to walk/run the race with a friend. We did the 6K route and finished in 54 minutes. I had a blast!

  1. If you could run any race, anywhere in the world, what would it be and why?
That's easy... NYC!! It's my favourite place in the world. That city makes me feel alive! The energy is different than anywhere I've ever been! Can't wait to fulfill my dreams next month!!

  1. What is your favourite fuel to use?
I don't know if I have a favourite but I use Shot Bloks in Cranberry flavour and they get the job done! I don't like to fuel until mile 8-9 at least!
  1. Do you train solo or with a group?
Solo. I tend to push myself more when I'm by myself but would like to find someone with a similar pace, or faster, to run with in the future.

  1. Have you ever had a running injury?
Nothing serious, thank god! I'm trying to do lots of stretching and foam rolling after my runs to help prevent injuries. London likes to copy me ;)

  1. What motivates you to keep training?
Having a goal in mind. I'm extremely competitive and know training is the only way I'm going to get better. I'm also very Type A and a little OCD and need to see my training plan checked off as "done" everyday!
  1. What is your favourite piece of gear?
Hmmm probably my Garmin to show me how my pacing is or my new Mizuno Wave Rider 17s that make me feel like I'm running on a cloud!
  1. what is your goal race for this year?
PR at the NYC half (2:09:20)
  1. Tell me about your most memorable run. What made it so memorable?
Either my first, and to date only, half marathon because I was so proud of myself for completing it or the Clause Cause 10K where I finished 2nd in my age category (55:10!) I've never considered myself a fast runner and I was so proud of myself for all the hard work I had done to improve my speed!

  1. What is the coldest temperature you’ve run in?
Minus 43 with the windchill! It was supposed to be a 5K but they changed the rules on race day and you were encouraged to do whatever you felt like. I made it a mile with frozen eyelashes and numb fingers and toes!
