2013 in Review

2013 has been an amazing year. I was lucky enough to get to spend 10.5 months of it with London. Every day and every night I got to play, cuddle and watch my little baby boy grow into a toddler. Jarod and I bought a beautiful new house and I was able to spend lots of time with my family after my mom and stepdad moved to Lethbridge for a year.

I  learned a lot about myself in 2013.

I learned I can push my body further than I ever thought possible. I ran 10 races. I PR'd both a 5K (26:40) and a 10K (55:10) and a half marathon (2:09:20.) I ran every day from March 1st until December 31st. I learned that there are real life "mean girls" and, through that, who my real friends are. I met new friends and formed some incredible relationships. I also realized not all friendships are meant to last forever. I experienced how my job can help people and inspire people. I found out I really do have the best boss ever. I found out that a baby changes your marriage and you have to really work if you want to make it last. I learned to see, and love, my husband in a whole new light. I discovered that a part of me will always care what other people think, as much as I wished it didn't. I learned to love my body. I learned that money will always be a stressful topic but not to let it keep me up at night. I discovered just how lucky and blessed I am.

I learned a lot about myself in 2013.

Here's what I hope to accomplish in 2014:

1. PR at the NYC Half. I want to beat my 2:09:20 time. I'd love to do it in under two hours but have heard the hills in Central Park are brutal. I'd be happy with 2:05:00.

2. Put down my phones (work and personal) while at home and spend more time focused on London. I'm guilty of carrying it around with me everywhere and responding instantly to texts or messages. They can wait.

3. Spend more one on one time with Jarod.

4. Have more sex.

5. Get pregnant (see above.) Have a healthy pregnancy. Continue to work out if possible.

6. Make time for friends. Try and make plans, at least, once a month.

7. Spend more time with just mom. She watches London all day so we don't see each other much outside of that. Try and go for lunch or coffee dates without him. She's leaving in July, so I need to make the most of our time together.

8. Spend less money. Avoid online shopping.

I have a feeling 2014 is going to be another amazing year! Wishing you, and your loved ones, a Happy New Year and all the best for the year ahead!
