Half marathon goals

 I am running my first half marathon Saturday. I've talked about my running story before but I feel the need to reiterate that I never imagined I would be running 13.1 miles!

Running was never something I enjoyed growing up. Now, I crave it. Putting on my runners and heading outside (or on the treadmill) with only my thoughts (or my iPod) is exactly what I need most days. Sure, there are days I don't want to run; but, I know once I get out the door, and finish a mile or two, I will be glad I went. I've never regretted a run.

I have been training for this run since the end of May. I haven't followed any plans but, instead, I ran daily and increased my weekly "long" run by a mile until I hit 12 miles. 

I know I can finish. I just don't know what my time will be. I've been nursing a knee injury the last few days but know I can push through it. If I'm being honest, I would love to finish in 2 hours and 20 minutes (although I keep saying 2:30 to anyone that asks.)

I run sub 1 hour 10Ks (58:24 PR) but I need to slow my pace to complete the distance. My usually race pace is 945 so if I can run around a 1045, I'll be thrilled! I am really competitive with myself so hopefully the race adrenaline kicks in and helps me beat my goal!

I have a friend running it too and I'm hoping we can run together and push each other. Still, no matter what time I finish it'll be a personal record and I should be proud of myself for what I am about to accomplish.
